These are basic instructions for installing your heating systems. Please refer to your installation manuals (download section) for more detailed instructions.

  • Before laying any underfloor heating system, make sure the existing floor is clean, dry and primed if necessary.
  • If you are installing palziv insulation (i.e. under laminate and carpet) cover the floor area with the insulation and Seal joints with tape.
  • If you are installing Therm-a-mat insulation (i.e. under tiles or vinyl flooring) cover the floor area with flexi adhesive Using a 3mm notched trowel. Bed the therm-a-mat insulation board directly onto the adhesive.
  • Install heating mats as per mat plan, securing with adhesive tapes at the ends of the heating mats, ensuring you have taken resistance readings of all mats and log results and serial numbers.
  • Ensure all cold leads are buried into the insulation, including heating mat ends.
  • Cut a groove into the insulation 10mm deep for the installation of the floor probe.
  • Feed the probe to the thermostat and the cold leads to the junction box. The thermostat can then be connected up by your electrician.
  • You are now ready to install your flooring. (remembering if you are tiling you will need to use flexi adhesive over your heating mats, using a 10mm plastic notched trowel). Laminate or engineered board can be installed directly on top of heating mats
